Welcome to the Libertarian Party of Northern Virginia in Arlington County! We invite you to meet with fellow libertarians virtually and in-person. You can subscribe to our newsletter and connect with us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Below is information on how to join us for events, how you can make an impact on policy changes, and different community service projects in which LPNOVA is involved.
Events
When COVID-19 lockdowns start to end, you are invited to join us for our popular bar crawl in Clarendon. It’s a great way to meet other local Libertarians and learn of ways to get involved. Be on the lookout for it and RSVP through Eventbrite, Meetup, or Facebook.
Community Service and Philanthropy
We’ve adopted a neighborhood park since 2019 – Herselle Milliken Park near Virginia Square. Over the past couple of years we’ve torn down an old wooden fence, dug up some old benches, laid a new gravel pathway, and spread mulch in addition to picking up trash. It has been one of our most fun and rewarding activities. Find the next clean-up through Eventbrite, Meetup, or Facebook.
During the COVID-19 lockdowns of 2020 LPNOVA held a small fundraiser for Arlington Thrive, a charity focusing on providing same-day emergency financial assistance to Arlington residents who experience sudden financial crises such as temporary unemployment or illness. We raised over 600 dollars!
Policy Efforts
We are currently building coalitions for school choice and Ranked Choice Voting in the county, and in the past have advocated for occupational licensing reform in childcare. In 2018, we also advocated against corporate subsidies for Amazon’s HQ2, although the county Board of Supervisors pushed forward with that despite strong community opposition.
Candidates
Interested in leading the charge for liberty in your local community? We are actively recruiting and training people to be candidates for local offices such as County Supervisor, School Board, and other positions.
In 2014, Evan Bernick ran for Arlington County Board and Jeffery Carson ran for U.S. House of Representatives in the 8th District. In 2013, Laura Delhomme ran for Virginia House of Delegates, 47th District. In 2012, Justin Malkin ran for Virginia House of Delegates, 45th District. Learn more about our past candidates here.
